A Flavorful Fusion of Filipino Fashion, Cuisine, and Culture at Quest Hotel Cebu

Quest Hotel and Conference Center – Cebu proudly concludes a successful second edition of Lasa Pilipinas, showcasing modern Filipino artistry across food, fashion, and pastry in partnership with local creatives.

Quest lit up with cultural pride and creative energy as it hosted the second installment of Lasa Pilipinas, a two-day celebration dedicated to honoring Filipino identity through flavor, fashion, and craft. Held on June 27 and 28, the event served as a dynamic platform for local designers, chefs, and artisans to reinterpret Filipino heritage in fresh and exciting ways.

Cebu-based designer Mikhail Achas opened the celebration with a much-anticipated fashion showcase that merged traditional Filipino elements with modern streetwear aesthetics. His capsule collection - Baklay, presented during a live runway show at the hotel’s lobby, featured statement pieces adorned with native weaves, bold elements, and silhouettes inspired by contemporary Filipino youth culture. Each look paid tribute to local materials and heritage, while challenging conventional norms of how Filipino fashion is defined. The audience, which included local fashion enthusiasts, students, and cultural advocates, responded with resounding applause.

The second part of Lasa Pilipinas turned the spotlight onto Filipino cuisine. Pusô Bistro & Bar offered a curated buffet entitled The Spread, celebrating beloved regional dishes from Luzon, the street foods and comfort food of Visayas and Cebu and the well-loved specialties fro Mindanao especially from the Maranao dishes. On the second night, the immersive dining experience was enriched by a cultural performance by the Lapu-Lapu Arnis de Abaniko Group, showcasing the rhythmic grace of traditional Filipino martial arts.

On both days, Quest partnered with the Pastry Guild of Cebu to introduce a dessert showcase like no other. Local pastry chefs unveiled contemporary interpretations of traditional Filipino desserts. This showcased the ncredible potential of Filipino flavors in the world of modern pastry, capturing the imagination of both gourmands and aspiring bakers.

Lasa Pilipinas once again proved to be a unique and meaningful celebration — a reminder that Filipino identity continues to evolve through bold creativity and cultural appreciation. As part of the Cebu Food and Wine Festival, Quest continues to champion Filipino excellence in all forms.
